Bessemer City Scholars Celebrate American Education Week at Miles College

FAIRFIELD, Ala. — Bessemer City High School students visited the campus of Miles College as part of a special celebration for American Education Week.

The visit, coordinated by Superintendent Turner and Dr. Richardson of Miles College, provided local scholars with an immersive look at the academic and cultural environment of the historically Black college. Students participated in activities designed to highlight the institution's rich history and the importance of higher education.

School officials expressed gratitude to the leadership at Miles College for hosting the group and offering a firsthand look at collegiate life.

“Our scholars had an amazing time and truly enjoyed experiencing the culture, history, and pride that Miles College represents,” administrators said.

The event was part of a broader effort during American Education Week to connect high school students with future educational pathways. By visiting the Fairfield campus, Bessemer City scholars were able to engage with the legacy of the institution while considering their own post-graduation goals.

The partnership between the school district and Miles College continues to foster community pride and academic excellence, ensuring students have access to mentorship and inspiration from local higher education leaders.
